Affogato
A scoop of something cold, a shot of hot espresso poured over. Two ingredients, ninety seconds, and it ends a dinner party better than anything you could bake.

Ingredients
- 4 shot Strong brewed coffee or espresso
- 1 ½ cups Plain 2% Greek yogurt, frozen, or vanilla ice cream
- 2 tbsp Pure maple syrup
- 1 oz Dark chocolate (70%), shaved
- 3 tbsp Hazelnuts, toasted and chopped
Method
- For the frozen yogurt version: stir the maple into the yogurt, freeze it in a shallow container for 3 hours, and scrape it into scoops. Or use good vanilla ice cream and skip this.
- Chill four small glasses. A cold glass buys you thirty seconds before it becomes a milkshake.
- Put a scoop in each glass. Pull the espresso and pour it over at the table, in front of people.
- Shaved chocolate and hazelnuts on top. Eat it immediately — the whole appeal is the moment when it is half melted.
Notes
- ✨ The restaurant touch
- Pour it at the table. There is a small theater to affogato and it costs nothing.
- 🧒 For the kids
- Hot chocolate instead of espresso works and is a real dessert in its own right.
- 🥡 Leftovers
- There is no such thing.
